Michael Paulkovich grew up Montgomery County, Maryland. He was accepted at MIT but circumstances dictated he attend a local university. In 1977 he received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland. While at university he concocted several inventions including a
melodic telephone ringer.
He worked for DoD contractors for a dozen years, then spent over 20 years working at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD, contributing to development of the James Webb Space Telescope, the Cassini spacecraft, the Contour spacecraft and others. Raised Christian, his parents had stopped making him go to church around age ten. Paulkovich eventually read the Bible as an adult, which cured him of the indoctrination. He started contributing to American Atheist magazine in 2009; in 2010 the editor asked him if he would write a regular column for the venue. He wrote articles for The American Rationalist, and was asked by editor S. T. Joshi to be a contributing editor in 2014. He has published over 50 articles on history, religion, science and philosophy including articles at Free Inquiry, Humanist Perspectives and others. Paulkovich published No Meek Messiah in 2013 which received praise from Elie Shneor, S. T. Joshi and others, capturing the attention of Frank Zindler, who then asked Paulkovich if he would be willing to contract with American Atheist Press and publish a new edition. Zindler decided the title Beyond the Crusades was more appropriate, and enlisted Robert M. Price to write the book's foreword. His book's full title is Beyond the Crusades - Christianity's Lies, Laws and Legacy and is an extensive revision of No Meek Messiah. |
